I didn’t choose this path of the psychic. It chose me. Growing up I was told never to talk about such things. They didn’t exist, they were just stories. it was all in my head. Conversations about ghosts and spirits were held behind closed doors, or laughed about at parties.

My how the world has changed…

We, as a human beings, need something to hold on to when we are afraid. As children it is our mother. The one person who gave us warmth and comfort while we were still forming in the womb. In hardship, we have a need to go back to basics. Basics is instinct. Basics is intuition. We are after all, in our most primal form, mammals. We are survivors, survivors are instinctual. This is why we crave the intuitive so badly. This is why our children are so sensitive to the world. They are the next leaders of a world whose lines between technology and spirituality are blurry.

We, and the generations before have paved the way to helping them feel safe in this. The hippies who spoke of love and free thinking, the gurus, the Louise Hays of our generation. They helped mainstream what was once hidden. Now we are at the extreme. influencers, technology, social media has made it so easy to find those willing to help “Deepen your self awareness to gain more access to your intuition” or give you the “10 steps to your psychic self” all for a mere few thousand dollars. Everywhere we turn science is unlocking and mapping connections between the mind and spirituality.

The hype around intuitive work and energy medicine in the last decade has sky rocketed. People younger and younger are gaining an interest in tarot cards, candles, psychic work. The question is why, in a world of global giants like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, are people coming back to the old ways?

I look around and I see disenchantment with society, the need to feel empowered. I see some who want to come into balance knowing that mind and body, the physical, cannot be whole and complete without the spirit and emotions being addressed. More than this, I see people desperate to live a life as more than they are. More than what is being presented to them by a society that inundates them with offers of quick fixes to every aspect of life. A meaningful, purposeful life.

Those who are truly on the intuitive path know that there are no easy ways to becoming whole. They know it takes years, if not lifetimes, to hone intuitive, psychic, and energetic skills (or whatever you want to label them) and they are willing to walk that path.

The common person thinks it’s cool to be able to see ghosts. It’s what so many desire. They think without seeing aunt betty, or better yet Jesus, appear right in front of them that they are somehow a lesser person. Many, not all, hobbyists want to be seen as experts as they go out hunting ghosts in old abandoned locations, or go on ghost tours hoping they will feel or sense something that will prove that spirits truly exist.

I don’t like the word “gifted” or “special”, because we all have our gifts. We are all instinctive. We all listen to our gut to one degree or another. We have all had experiences. Growing up many of us remember hearing stories of our great aunts, grandmothers, and other old ones who “had the gift”, but it was only amongst family that they were spoken of in that light.

Those who walk the path are driven by their spirits and emotions. They dedicate their lives, their studies and every waking moment to living through feel. The way a doctor works with the physical, or psychologist works with the mind and sees this as their life’s calling, those who are truly seers, energy healers, and medicine people make sacrifices that most would never consider… and they are far and few between.

For the everyday person walking this path means going out into nature, and communing with the elements, giving thanks under the sun/moon with offering of tobacco or herb. These are small and wonderful intuitive ways of balancing mind body and spirit, finding peace and connecting with intuition. Acceptance of these tiny moments are of far greater help in making the world a better place, than being a seeker ones whole life. Realizing that we are enough just as we are, skilled as we are, grateful for where we are, is enough to deepen our self awareness, and are the first of many steps toward true psychic and intuitive abilities.

Knowing that we are empowered and whole when we came into this world and that we are still that, is what makes us perfect. That knowledge alone will help us navigate hard times personally and globally. It is the fastest way to living our lives with purpose and meaning. Just being us…Simply. That is the true path. Those are the old ways. In the end, these examples will encourage the next generations to lead through mind, body and spirit, intuitively, technologically and in true balance.

This is precisely why I am not a fan of “ghost hunting” paranormal investigation is so much different and more meaningful….
